Vampyres don’t exist. They absolutely do not exist.

At least I didn’t think they did ‘til I tried to quit smoking and ended up Undead. Who in the hell did I screw over in a former life that my getting healthy equates with dead?

Now I’m a Vampyre. Yes, we exist whether we want to or not. However, I have to admit, the perks aren’t bad. My girls no longer jiggle, my ass is higher than a kite and the latest Prada keeps finding its way to my wardrobe. On the downside, I’m stuck with an obscenely profane Guardian Angel who looks like Oprah and a Fairy Fighting Coach who’s teaching me to annihilate like the Terminator.

To complicate matters, my libido has increased to Vampyric proportions and my attraction to a hotter than Satan’s underpants killer rogue Vampyre is not only dangerous . . . it’s possibly deadly. For real dead. Permanent death isn’t on my agenda. Avoiding him is my only option. Of course, since he thinks I’m his, it’s easier said than done. Like THAT’S not enough to deal with, all the other Vampyres think I’m some sort of Chosen One.

Holy Hell, if I’m in charge of saving an entire race of blood suckers, the Undead are in for one hell of a ride.

BOOK REVIEW:

This is my first Robyn Peterman read, and Fashionably Dead is FREE on Amazon. Robyn has over 2000 ratings. (an author's dream)

Readers love this series.

Now this is only my one opinion that is coming late into the game and doesn't mean a great deal in the 'bigger picture'.

I did enjoy Fashionably Dead. Robyn has a great sense of the silly in her writing and you can tell she is having a really great time writing this story.

I’m gonna state up front that I am giving this 3.75 stars, but I still enjoyed this book and will be continuing the series.

For those readers who have read the Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill, they may notice a few ‘little’ things in Fashionably Dead. One of them is having the lead character named Ethan and kinda (in my personal opinion only) resembling Ethan from Chicagoland Vampires. In my head I kept seeing THAT Ethan all the time, rather than Hot Damned’s Ethan.

Just me… I know.

It was a little distracting in my head when reading. Not a reason to bring the stars down though. Not at all. Loads of peeps have not read CV series so would not notice these things.

Moving on.

I lowered my stars purely based on my level of rating and what I want from a story as a reader. I felt there was a lot of ‘speed-dating’ so to speak when it came to plot. I call them plot-jumpers.

It was almost like Robyn was so super excited to spin her yarn, she couldn’t slow down and flesh-out some places—which is okay for the reader who digs that.

I felt things were a bit too convenient. What I mean is Astrid didn’t really earn her stripes, she was handed them on a silver platter… every time.

In the early stages of the book we are ‘told’ things rather than ‘shown’ which was part of my whole ‘speed-dating’ comment.

The Kev has trained Astrid. When? But we are told; so it is. This is one example. Speaking of The Kev… guy is an absolute hoot.

Now this story isn’t to be taken seriously, it is a total pile of the funnies, but a story still should have a good structural bone up the middle—IMO. It’s the glue that holds it all together.

Astrid I felt needed some work. A bit of  laying-down-the-land with her character—I thought was necessary. Everything is kinda taken in its stride. Her BFF, Gemma, takes everything in her stride. There’s a lot of ‘striding’.

I did have a chuckle at the 6% roughly mark when Astrid discovers her new self and Gemma is more worried about Astrid getting her hair done without her.

BIG PLOT JUMP.

WT!! Bahahah.

Again, nothing is taken too seriously and I had to keep reminding myself of this, but I thought some honest, deeper emotions, could have come into play, that were a bit more realistic.

There seemed this whole area that had been torn out of the book that I missed. LOL

The Kev is a fave—visually. (insert chuckling)

Pam… totally dug what Robyn did there.

I won’t continue with the things that lowered my stars, because I am late to this series and it was the first book. So many dudes have read it and loved the shit out of it and that is awesome.

A definite pool-side read.

8 books in the series, loads of 5 STARS thrown at it… I’m in for the ride.

BOOK REVIEW - WHEN IT'S REAL by ERIN WATT - HARLEQUIN TEEN - YA CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE

tháng 5 26, 2017     4.5 STARS, Book Reviews 2017, Contemporary Romance, Erin Watt, Harlequin Teen, When It's Real, YA Genre     No comments

By: Erin Watt
Published By: Harlequin Teen
Released: May 30th 2017
Details: Netgalley, from publisher for honest review, 416 Pages

RATING: 4.5 STARS

Blurb: Goodreads

From #1 New York Times bestselling author duo Erin Watt comes the addictive contemporary tale of a teen rock star in need of an image makeover and the teen girl hired to be his fake girlfriend.

Meet Oakley Ford-teen celebrity, renowned pop star, child of famous movie stars, hottie with millions of fangirls… and restless troublemaker. On the surface he has it all, but with his home life disintegrating, his music well suddenly running dry, and the tabloids having a field day over his outrageous exploits, Oakley's team decides it's time for an intervention. The result: an image overhaul, complete with a fake girlfriend meant to show the world he's settled down.

Enter seventeen-year-old Vaughn Bennett-devoted sister, part-time waitress, the definition of "normal." Under ordinary circumstances she'd never have taken this gig, but with her family strapped for cash, she doesn't have much of a choice. And for the money Oakley's team is paying her, she figures she can put up with outlandish Hollywood parties and a team of publicists watching her every move. So what if she thinks Oakley's a shallow, self-centered jerk? It's not like they're going to fall for each other in real life…right?

BOOK REVIEW:

I’m a HUGE fan of Paper Princess. When I got the opportunity to read When It’s Real—early—I was rather excited. Thank you Harlequin Teen.

I really do love Oakley aka Oak. What I liked about his character is we were able to understand a little more what a real rockstar or musician’s teen life can be like.

It’s not all shits and giggles. There is the excess of more than chicks just throwing themselves at you. You are also missing the ‘normal’ that balances out the crazy lifestyle. You may be underage, but everything is there for the taking. Technically you are thrown into an adult world where rules don’t apply to you.

Oak had access to anything; it didn’t make him necessarily happy. He needed more from his music. He wants to be taken seriously and to have growth in an industry that dictates your every move.

Vaughn—by chance—has been chosen to be Oak’s fake GF…let the angst begin.

Okay so this idea isn’t necessarily a new one, but I did really enjoy When It’s Real.

The character I felt was quite redundant was, W. I know he’s there for the angst and dramalama, but Vaughn and Oak could have stood on their own two feet without W in this story. Even his name gives us the predictable outcome. W isn’t even worthy of the rest of the letters in his name. I kinda got annoyed only reading him as W; I mean he’s not in a James Bond movie.

I did dig this story, and I am becoming a very big fan of this writing duo.

I highly recommend reading When It’s Real.

RATING: 4.25 JOE STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

When his younger brother loses interest in online dating, hot, bearded, bartender extraordinaire, Joe Collins, only intends to log into his account and shut it down. Until he reads about her.

Alex Parks is funny, friendly, and pretty much everything he's been looking for in a woman. And in no time at all they're emailing up a storm, telling each other their deepest darkest secrets... apart from the one that really matters.

And when it comes to love, serving it straight up works better than with a twist.

BOOK REVIEW:

Another nice easy read in the Dive Bar series.

This series hasn’t so far grabbed me—as much as the Stage Dive series—but it is still a very enjoyable series.

Joe and Alex have an unusual start to their HEA. Angst plays a rather large part in Twist.

I am very intrigued by Eric’s character. He can appear a bit of a douche sometimes and others…

Looking forward to Chaser and Eric’s story and maybe getting a little deeper.

I’m always gonna crack open a Kylie Scott read.

BOOK REVIEW:
Tack.

TACK!

I want me a Kane ‘Tack’ Allen.

GOOD LAWD!

I don’t think I even need to write a review.

Just read Motorcycle Man and meet Tack and Tyra.

Ty, Luke and Tack.

My top 3 KA men. All different; all lads go beyond the call of duty to make my toes curl.

Imagine these three in the same book—the same room.

GAHHHH!!!!

Panty melting moments.

I think I went a little gaga for Tack.

Nuff said.

Giddy up!

When he spoke, he did it softly. "You think, Red, right now, I put my hands and mouth on you in about two minutes you wouldn't be pantin' to be flat on your back, legs wide open in my bed?"

SOMETIMES THE ONE WHO LOVES YOU IS THE ONE WHO HURTS YOU THE MOST

Lily hasn't always had it easy, but that's never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She's come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up - she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily's life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, and maybe even a little arrogant. He's also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily, but Ryle's complete aversion to relationships is disturbing.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan - her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.

This book contains graphic scenes and very sensitive subject matter.

BOOK REVIEW:

Colleen Hoover got to where she is today, because of freakin’ good writing, and being a nice gal. The lady can walk the walk and talk the talk with words.

It is always very clear when reading a CoHo penned story, she thinks very hard about her characters and plot when she writes a story. She doesn’t write lazily, she writes with a great attachment to her characters and their past and present.

She writes with depth and bravery.

This is so true for It Ends With Us.

I never really understood the cover art until naturally I read the story, and it is so apt.

Have you ever wondered why a woman stays with a man when he isn’t being a very nice partner? Have you judged her for being stupid in staying in that relationship? Maybe thought you would behave differently?

Man, this book is such a deep eye-opener and very cleverly orchestrated for maximum impact. It is written so well to capture your own heart and have you divided, or making excuses along with her character. A sticky web of emotions comes into play from both sides.

Colleen is very clever in choosing all the players' roles in this story making it hard on the reader, as well. We become involved far more deeply than a surface read, because we become attached, too.

I think Marshall needs a shout-out, because the lad is the funny bone in this story. He lends himself very nicely to being the man who got über lucky with the love of his life, and kept himself humble in the process.

Ryle—you made me think harder than I've probably ever thought about a character before.

Atlas—I love you. I love your friends. I love you kept swimming.

A really well written novel; it will stay with me for a long time.

Bravo, Ms Hoover.

Bravo.

BOOK REVIEW:

I’m still on the Stephanie Plum trail and enjoying the rinse-and-repeat shenanigans and formula that goes into one of these books.

Reading a lot of books in succession—isn’t probably the wisest thing to do, knowing the formula—but, eh, away I go.

I went from 5 stars in Ten Big Ones to regressing back to 4 stars. It was good while it lasted that high I got from Steph being under Ranger’s roof and stepping it up and working for RangeMan. A new direction was refreshing for me as a reader of this series.

Now we are back at Vinnie’s and Joyce is back at Vinnie's and Steph and Lula have forgotten all the skills they should have learned by now, but I’m still coming back for more.

Ranger is Ranger and dang, I am having all sorts of moral dilemmas with Ranger-Steph-Joe. I am trying hard not to as this is meant to be a series of silliness and wit and a mystery to solve, Scooby…but—

I gotta address the Ranger situation, and I am #teamranger, but I got me a moral code too.

So Ranger's in Steph’s bed, all platonic until it heats up (as we discover when Morelli comes-a-knockin’).

He kissed me, and our tongues touched, and his mouth moved lower and lower ... and lower! And this is the thing I knew about Ranger from the one time we'd been together. Ranger made love. And Ranger liked to kiss. Ranger kissed everything. A lot.

Ranger froze in mid-kiss.

"What? I asked.

"Someone's at your door. I just heard the lock tumble."

"How could you possibly hear the lock tumble? You had your head under the covers!"

He moved off me, slipped out of bed, and started for the door.

"Holy cow!" I said. "You can't go to the door like that!"

"My gun's in the kitchen."

"Yes, but your underwear's on the floor in my bedroom!" And that wasn't the biggest problem.

The front door to my apartment opened, and the chain caught with a snap. There was a moment's silence, and then Morelli's voice sounding impatient.

"Steph?"

#totallyteamranger

BUT!!

Steph calls Joe her boyfriend, loosely. I feel like this lot need to do a threesome and get it over with…not that I think Joe or Ranger would be in on a MMF, they would be more the MFF.

Morelli is a smart guy, so why is he dumbed down when he has walked in on a situation? Why? Because he loves Steph and trusts her.

STEPH!!

Ranger is so damn sexy, has the best lines—babe. He has the moves, the wit and the sex appeal.

Then we have Joe, who in my reader eyes needs to fight for his woman, but he is so blasé.

A little effort goes into him being a bit put-out by Ranger and Steph…but not much else—dude!

I am only at book 12 so I know this is gonna go on for a lot longer, possibly still is at book 24, but day-um!

It is such a weird thing reading these 3 characters and how Steph processes it in her inner monologues.

Ranger is honest, he lays it out and flirts it up and tries to get some, because he knows he can.

Joe is kinda a flat character romantically and I gotta say he feels like a bit of a doormat.

*GASP*

I said that out loud.

No guy should be written as a doormat 12 books in.

*face plant*

In saying all that, I am still hooked on this series. It just feels off- putting when I get to these parts, like Steph is a cheater and isn't taking real world feelings into consideration.

In the real world, would I want that done to me? No.

Would I want Ranger done to me. Yes! With a big grin on my face. Would I want to hurt Joe? No!

Break Joe and Steph up and let Ranger and her get their thing on for several books ( and for my viewing pleasure), because I feel, Janet, it all leads back to Steph and Joe anyway, but cut the cheating. There is no other way I can look at it. This line Steph crosses isn’t called friends-with-benefits. If it was, that would be okay.

I love the shenanigans and all the silly and all the Lula and sidekicks and predictability of this series as these are poolside reads for me (minus the pool), but I am just not getting Joe-the-doormat and Steph. I don’t ‘feel’ anything there on Steph’s side.

Ranger is honest about his Steph-urges, he says what he thinks. Steph’s like a brand new tennis ball bouncing back and forth. I don’t know? I think I might have lost a little bit of respect for Steph where Joe is concerned. I might not be #teamjoe, but dude needs a bit of respect in their relationship.

Oh the dilemma of the next 12 books.

This isn’t a triangle, it is more of a merry-go-round that keeps going round and round, with no end in sight. Well, I have 11 more books to see what happens there. I can't assume this early.

Another thing that got my goat was Ranger's daughter is abducted...and he's upset, Ranger-style, but I wasn't believing it when he was more concerned for Steph in some places, and a few other things. I get he holds his emotions in, but...

Considering the little girl acknowledges he's her father, ya would think he would show more desperation in locating her. I felt Janet wrote this a bit lazy. No dude should be thinking of sex when their daughter is missing, no matter how little he sees of her.

I think this book just rubbed me a bit sideways in certain areas, but other areas it was shenanigans and giggles as usual.

What can I say? I'm addicted to the series.

Oh, and a car was blown up. :)

RATING: 4.5 MITCH STARS!

Love is just around the corner . . .

Sweet, shy Mara Hanover is in love with her neighbor. For four years, she has secretly watched her dream man from afar. Handsome police detective Mitch Lawson is way out of her league. She's a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, and there's no way a guy like Mitch would want anything to do with her. But when Mara has a leaky faucet that she can't fix, it's Mitch who comes to her rescue.

Mitch has been eyeing his beautiful neighbor for a long time. He jumps at the chance to help her, and soon their formerly platonic relationship gets very hot and heavy. But when Mara gets a disturbing phone call from her cousin's kids, she gets pulled back into the life she's tried so hard to leave behind. Can the hot law man convince Mara to let go of her past-and build a future with him?

BOOK REVIEW:

Another KA book done and dusted.

Woot!

And didn’t Mitch Lawson live up to a KA man. That is not a question.

Of course he did.

To think it all started with a leaky faucet. *sigh*

Mara, oh, Mara, at first I didn’t know what to do with you and your rating system when clearly on the outside you were so much more. Your inner monologues were a little tough on the self-esteem levels, but we hang in there and learn why.

I loved all the sub characters—especially LaTanya and Elvira. When you need a chick to take charge, have your back, Elvira is there.

She pressed a button and muttered, “There.” Then she looked at me. “Right, so, quick, I mentioned Hawk. He’s a scary-ass, motherfucking commando. When I say that, I do not lie. So I’ll repeat, he’s a scary-ass, motherfucking commando. So, when your mind conjures up a vision of a commando, that’s Hawk. And Hawk likes kids. But he don’t like kids bein’ scared and bein’ used for bullshit family dramas. I tell him this, which, by the way, I’m totally tellin’ him this, even though he don’t know those kids, like, at all, he’s gonna to psycho badass, motherfucking commando. And the Trailer Trash Twins won’t know what hit ‘em.”

Hawk makes a couple appearances and I gotta say, I totally dug him more when he was all commando man in this book.

He was dangerous.

The good kind.

“Hi,” I breathed, and his eyes went from Gwen to me.

My breasts swelled.

“You Mara Hanover?” he asked.

“Yes,” I said, still breathy.

“You Lawson’s?” he asked.

“Absolutely,” I answered.

His mouth twitched. Then his eyes went back to his woman.

“So, you’re all shitfaced,” he observed, then finished, “or at least Mara is.”

“Nope, we all are,” Gwen replied airily, if a little slurred.

“Fantastic,” Hawk muttered, eyeing the intoxicated remnants of the girl gang and not hiding the fact he was not a big fan of dragging our drunk asses home. He then asked the table at large, “Can any of you walk, or do I have to carry you?”

I loved Mitch. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Mitch. I wanted to make babies with Mitch. I wanted to grow old with Mitch.

But I also wanted this man called Hawk to carry me. I didn’t even care where he carried me. I just wanted him to do it.

And I was drunk enough to share this.

“I vote for being carried,” I announced, and Gwen, Elvira and LaTanya burst into more gales of laughter.

Hawk’s eyes came back to me and my heart fluttered. They moved over me and my legs started tingling.

Then they came back to my face. “Lawson see you in that dress?”

I nodded.

“Gave her the business before they came out,” Elvira volunteered. Hawk looked at her while she spoke, then he looked back at me.

When he did, I leaned in and up and whispered, “It was hot.”

His lips twitched again.

That was hot too.

Hot!

“Right,” he stated. “Seein’ as you’re hammered this might not penetrate, but I’ll say it anyway. You lookin’ like you do, wearin’ that dress and bein’ Lawson’s woman, he is not gonna want my hands on you. Unless, say, you were lookin’ like you do and filled with bullets. So, to keep your man happy, my advice is you should attempt to ambulate. You start to go down, I’ll catch you. Deal?”

Yowzer!

I really enjoyed the inclusion of a couple kidlets and watching a man like Mitch take control.

Very manly and in the moment.

I just glanced at a small part of a review which mentioned the audio book was a little hard when talking about Billy and Billie. I had not thought about that. I can see how that would be hard trying to work out who is who when listening when you can’t see the spelling. When Billy starts getting called, Bud, then that would be a relief. Things authors must think about when using names that sound the same for opposite sex. Fun to read in a book, though.

KA books are always addictive reads for me, I simply can’t get enough.

This was one of the quotes that really hit home for me. Made me think about how hubs and I are together. We know what the other likes, it might not be our thing, but we gel. He lets me feed my hungry soul and I in turn enjoy watching him get a good feed to his soul.

Totally dug this quote. Been together a couple decades and it shows why.

“No,” he said softly. “They love each other. They know what the other likes, they know what the other needs to feed whatever is hungry in their soul and they give it to them. At least Penny does but Evan does too with only a minimal amount of bitching.”

KA books are a bit of a rinse and repeat recipe, but I keep coming back for more, because I know there is a KA man waiting for me.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Karen Marie Moning returns with the epic conclusion to her pulse-pounding Fever series, where a world thrown into chaos grows more treacherous at every turn. As Mac, Barrons, Ryodan, and Jada struggle to restore control, enemies become allies, right and wrong cease to exist, and the lines between life and death, lust and love, disappear completely.

Black holes loom menacingly over Dublin, threatening to destroy the Earth. Yet the greatest danger is the one MacKayla Lane has unleashed from within: the Sinsar Dubh—a sentient book of unthinkable evil—has possessed her body and will stop at nothing in its insatiable quest for power.

The fate of Man and Fae rests on destroying the book and recovering the long-lost Song of Making, the sole magic that can repair the fragile fabric of the Earth. But to achieve these aims, sidhe-seers, the Nine, Seelie, and Unseelie must form unlikely alliances and make heart-wrenching choices. For Barrons and Jada, this means finding the Seelie Queen who alone can wield the mysterious song, negotiating with a lethal Unseelie prince hell-bent on ruling the Fae courts, and figuring out how to destroy the Sinsar Dubh while keeping Mac alive.

This time, there’s no gain without sacrifice, no pursuit without risk, no victory without irrevocable loss. In the battle for Mac’s soul, every decision exacts a tremendous price.

BOOK REVIEW:

Grief was a silenced wail that had no beginning or end,
 just a long, agonizing middle.

I had to sit on my thoughts for a few days before writing my review. Not because of anything bad—I simply had to process.

I really enjoyed this book. Mac came with so much more than I think I have felt for her in the past.

Dani/Jada, man—you are killing me KMM. I know what I wanted, but I know you will give me more in 2018. I know why you played it the way you did and I loved it. I loved how everybody in the vicinity of Dani’s heart, took it.

I knew the child. I know the woman. She’ll never be satisfied with a single lover. Dani craves experience, challenge, change, tempering, growth. She needs to taste it all. I understand that.

The Big R has my heart...he's always had my heart since Iced.

So much going on in this Fever installment.

Always well written.

He laughed and the sound was a symphony of dark crystals chiming.

Always layered.
Such wonderful imagination KMM uses in this series. So much thought has gone into the plot and how she was gonna tackle certain characters.

I took my time reading this one over a good ten days. I simply didn’t want to rush it in a couple days. I wanted to absorb the words properly.

Many emotions.

The character with the most growth in this book was Mac, easily. KMM put her through a lot. I loved how she wrote certain things for the reader to really get inside and understand. Clever and dramatic.

Barrons has faded a bit into the background, compared to the initial Fever series, I don't 'feel' him the way he made me purrrr in the initial series, but that is ok. I still get lovely visuals.

He’s wearing black leather pants and a white shirt, cuffs rolled up, revealing strong forearms and a thick silver Celtic cuff. His beautiful face is inscrutable as ever. I use the word “beautiful” but to the rest of the world he’s not. The casual observer finds him disturbingly carnal, animal, unsettlingly predatory. The genetic stamp of Jericho Barrons’s face was tossed in the gene pool trashcan eons ago. His bone structure is sharp, primal, his brow prominent, and he can seem downright feral if you catch a glimpse of him when he thinks he’s unobserved. His eyes are so dark they’re nearly black, and when he’s angry, crimson sparks glitter within. His hair is midnight, slicked back. He has one of the most symmetrical faces I’ve ever seen. His body…well, I see the lithe grace and power the beast in him even in his human form.

Lor was one of the characters I felt there were places left open for more words in the future.  I always wanted to know more of the Nine intimately…I wonder if we will? They are there, but they aren’t really participating in this series that much.

Kat is another character I felt was hinted at in a past book with being one of the only females to be trained. Another reason I feel there is more…much more.

I am so over the moon Dani is getting a book in a different time to the ending of Feversong. Ryodan needs his Dani. I need to see him get her.

“How many fucking people do you think I’ve watched die?” His silver eyes flashed crimson. “Over and over. That’s what you do. You love them while you have them and when they’re gone, you grieve. That’s life. At least you had them for a while.”

I stared at him, realizing that, just like Dancer saw only part of me, I saw Ryodan through a filter, too. And right now I was seeing him in a way I never had before. He’d loved. Many times. Deeply. And he’d lost countless times. And that was why he fought so hard to keep his men together. He was intensely controlled because at the heart of it all, he cared intensely, and even though he was immortal, he’d never turned off emotion.

This series has been running for around ten years. I can see more books in the future. I will feel kinda nekid without one. Here's hoping there are spinoffs and we get in deep with some of the Nine.

Iced, was the book for me ( after Shadowfever ) I simply couldn't get enough of Ryodan and Dani and the humor between them. I've missed it.

He’d said, Holy Psychotic PCs, Robin, we’ve a murderous MacBook on the loose!

The Mega had my heart again in this installment.

She’d once crushed on Jericho Barrons violently. Before she realized he and Mac belonged together like earth and sky, night and day, fire and ice.

He kissed me like I was the empire he was sworn to protect and would die a thousand deaths to keep secure. He kissed me like I was a woman with a deep dark wildness that needed to be fed and he knew just how to do it. He kissed me like he was dying and this was the last kiss he would ever taste. Then his kiss changed and his tongue was velvet and silk as he kissed me like I was fine bone china that needed exacting care and gentleness. Then the storm built in both of us and I ground myself against him, and he was searching with his kiss and his hands sliding down to my ass for the part of me that was a savage animal and so was he and we were going to forget the world and become two primal, uncomplicated beasts fucking as if the universe depended on our passion to fuel it.

“You. Aren’t. Everyone else.” He paused, then said in a rough voice, “And you’re not pretty. Goddamn it, Dani. You’re beautiful.”

Bravo KMM for bringing Barrons, Mac, Cruce, Ryodan, The Mega, Dancer and the list goes on, into our lives and your amazing storytelling.

“Jericho,” I whispered against his ear, “thank you. For everything.” I drew back and laughed, feeling inexpressibly light.
“It’s been one hell of a ride.”
