The Men Of Ocean Beach is a second chance series full of

emotion and laugh out loud moments.

Five best friends graduating from college and a summer vacation filled with surfing and girls.

What could go wrong?

Six years ago five young men went to the island and only four came back alive.

Life was forever changed for these men with a brotherhood stronger than blood formed from the ashes. There is nothing they won’t do for each other.

Nothing.

Retro Cooper lost his memory and found solace in running his own cafe. He just doesn’t know he lost the love of his life along the way. At eighteen, Jase Madden stopped talking, the burden too great. Against the odds, Levi Donovan became a model and Keanu Lee hid behind his humor using it to build a business. Harley Madden, alpha security empire owner watches over them all. His guilt for trading places with his brother his own burden to carry.

There is one person who has stopped these men from moving forward emotionally with their lives and she’s about to walk through the door.

Faith Reed lost so much when she was fifteen years old. She hid from life and now she is determined to give back and to move forward.

Five tattooed men are waiting for Faith and her brother Chance to arrive in Ocean Beach so that they can say their goodbyes.

What happens when Faith reunites with these men and is confronted by their own secrets they have kept hidden from her?

I won’t lie, you might cry and you might also laugh out loud.

What happens when Retro has an epiphany and his memories come flooding back?

I guess you will have to read to find out.

A Little Faith is full of emotion, surprises and twists and some pretty gorgeous men and a cast of sub characters you will adore. I personally have a thing for Slade Malone. What can I say, the man behind the bar at Joe’s gives me a lady boner.

Take a chance on this adult contemporary romance, because sometimes all you need is a little faith.

The way the author binds these guys together and makes them and their lives completely realistic is a stroke of genius.

- Books Laid Bare

A stunningly beautiful story.

Emma James has written such a beautiful powerful story that will keep you engrossed from the first to the very last word. It is a story that revolves around five close friends and how they are dealing with a tragedy that touched them all six years earlier. Throw into the mix a young woman, who is also dealing with the consequences of the event.

These five men will share a bond that will never tear them apart. Fall in love with Harley, Retro, Levi, Keanu and Text(Jase). They are the Men Of Ocean Beach.

BOOK REVIEW - ROCK HARD by NALINI SINGH - ROCK KISS # 2 - ADULT CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE

By: Nalini Singh

Published By: Nalini Singh

Released : Available Now

Details: Paperback from library, 374 Pages

RATING: 5 GABRIEL STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

In New York Times Bestselling author Nalini Singh’s newest contemporary romance, passion ignites between a gorgeous, sinfully sexy man who built himself up from nothing and a shy woman who has a terrible secret in her past…

Wealthy businessman Gabriel Bishop rules the boardroom with the same determination and ruthlessness that made him a rock star on the rugby field. He knows what he wants, and he’ll go after it no-holds-barred.

And what he wants is Charlotte Baird.

Charlotte knows she’s a mouse. Emotionally scarred and painfully shy, she just wants to do her job and remain as invisible as possible. But the new CEO—a brilliant, broad-shouldered T-Rex of a man who growls and storms through the office, leaving carnage in his wake—clearly has other plans. Plans that may be equal parts business and bedroom.

If Charlotte intends to survive this battle of wits and hearts, the mouse will have to learn to wrangle the T-Rex. Game on.

BOOK REVIEW:

I am going to start by saying, I enjoyed book 1. I did have several things I wanted to say about it, but didn’t in my review, because it was written by Nalini Singh.

Rock Hard is the Nalini Singh I have grown to appreciate as a writer through her Guild Hunter series and Psy-Changeling series.

Rock Addiction # 1 was a good read, but ROCK HARD is Nalini Singh back in the saddle, for me personally.

Where Rock Addiction was sex, sex, sex, sex, sex...

I can say it a few more times if you want?

Rock Hard had story line. It had depth of character for both Charlotte and Gabriel. The story didn’t ride the sex, sex, sex, sex...angle. It was true Nalini back and her words that make it hard for me to put down one of her books.

We get to see more with Gabriel Bishop.

Charlotte is so darn likable.

I simply adored Gabriel for being Gabriel.

He is so farking alpha and true to himself. He is true to his family. He has his eyes locked on Charlotte, but the chemistry was so well written.

I want me a Gabriel.

Intelligent, strong, protective, sexy...oh-my-so-sexy, but he wasn’t a man-whore. Oh he could get the ladies, but he worked Charlotte without the insta-lust, but with the sizzling chemistry. Nothing better than believable chemistry that has you rooting for the couple to get to their HEA.

Oh and all that Ms. Baird stuff...rawrrrr.

I don’t think I’ve given a contemporary romance a 5 star in a while.

This book had what I was looking for in a 5 star read.

Chemistry with two characters we got to really know and I simply got that ...more.

Bravo!

A book I would read again and again.

Hell yeah!

And I don't read books again and again.

Now I must return this book to the library because it is soooo overdue, they might be chasing me around the car park for it, which means I must go forth and purchase this baby for my bookshelf.

Shiny.

BOOK REVIEW - THE CURSE OF THE TENTH GRAVE by DARYNDA JONES - CHARLEY DAVIDSON # 10 - PIATKUS - ADULT PARANORMAL ROMANCE

By: Darynda Jones
Published By: Piatkus
Released : Available Now
Details: Paperback from library, 342 Pages

RATING: 5 REYES with a side order of OSH and GARRET STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

As a Part-time PI and full-time grim reaper, Charley Davidson has asked a lot of questions throughout her life: Why can I see dead people? Who is the hot supernatural entity following me? How do I get gum out of my sister’s hair before she wakes up? But, “How do I trap not one malevolent god, but three?” was never among them. Until now. And since those gods are on earth to kill her daughter, she has little choice but to track them down, trap them, and cast them from this dimension.

There’s just one problem. One of the three stole her heart a very long time ago. Can the Razer, a god of absolute death and destruction, change his omniscient spots, or will his allegiances lie with his brothers?

Those are just a few of the questions Charley must answer, and quick. Add to that a homeless girl running for her life, an innocent man who’s been charged with murder, and a pendant made from god glass that has the entire supernatural world in an uproar, and Charley has her hands full. If she can manage to take care of the whole world-destroying-gods thing, we’re saved. If not, well…

BOOK REVIEW:

I always have time in my MASSIVE tbr pile for a Charley Davidson installment. Everybody should make time to read about Charley and her friend Cookie and one of the most sexiest non-human-men named Reyes. If you are lucky enough to have read this installment, then you might find out his real name.

I absolutely adored Reyes in this installment. Damn fine son-of-Satan man, who loveth Charley.

Darynda just gets that readers want a sexy man, who can also be bad and sexy...and I mean reeeeal bad, throw in a lot of one liners that make you laugh and a good who-dunnit to solve.

Bring on Charley and her adventures.

Loved the wee little twist that hurled itself at us in this installment.

Once that last page was finished I was truly left begging for more because the latter part of this installment really got cooking with some new information and whahhhh did we get some new shiz to ponder over.

Not just a PI/Grim Reaper and her sidekick solving crime and who-dunnits with a delicious serving of Reyes.

As always I love the chapter humor.

As always I love Charley’s humor.

We stood like that for a moment. Me with the hugging. Rocket with the accosting. At least he didn’t motorboat me. I didn’t know how Danger and Will ( Charley’s boobies ) would take to being manhandled in such a way.

Who was I kidding? They’d love it.

Charley is so kind to all the odd characters in her life, especially Rocket. I love it when he pops up.

Charley is always doing the best with what she has to work with.

Figured. I was always breaking some celestial being’s rules. They could bite my ass. Every last one of them. I was doing the best I could with what they gave me. If they wanted me to do better, they should have graced me with the Girl’s Guide to Grim Reaperism. Instead, I somehow ended up with Harry Potter’s map, where I had to solemnly swear I was up to no good before it would show me anything. And I couldn’t lie about it, so I had to constantly be up to no good. It was exhausting.

Another fun, sexy, PI solving installment with a dash of new things to come.

The US cover with the champagne flutes. I'll let you find out what that is all about. You may need a fan.

Personally I am so intrigued and ready for a possible spin-off??? Don’t quote me because I don’t know shiz, with Osh and Beep or a continuation of this series with baby Beep no longer a little beep.

Oh how the mind wonders about how daddy Reyes will handle that!

Bring on the 11th book ASAP.

BOOK REVIEW - CARESSED BY ICE by NALINI SINGH - PSY-CHANGELING # 3 -ADULT URBAN FANTASY - GOLLANCZ

By: Nalini Singh
Published By: Gollancz
Released : Available Now
Details: Paperback, 352 Pages

RATING: 4.75 JUDD STARS

Nalini Singh explores new heights of sensuality, returning to the world of the Psy - where two people who know evil intimately must unlock the good within their icy hearts...

As an Arrow, an elite soldier in the Psy Council ranks, Judd Lauren was forced to do terrible things in the name of his people. Now he is a defector, and his dark abilities have made him the most deadly of assassins - cold, pitiless, unfeeling. Until he meets Brenna...

Brenna Shane Kincaid was an innocent before she was abducted - and had her mind violated - by a serial killer. Her sense of evil runs so deep, she fears she could become a killer herself. Then the first dead body is found, victim of a familiar madness. Judd is her only hope, yet her sensual changeling side rebels against the inhuman chill of his personality, even as desire explodes between them. Shocking and raw, their passion is a danger that threatens not only their hearts, but their very lives...

BOOK REVIEW:

The world building in this series is rather special. Beautiful world building that goes deeper, to the point one must pay attention or else you can get a little lost. I simply adore its uniqueness and the title to this book is so apt.

Very clever writing by Nalini.

Judd Lauren is our male lead and we get introduced to him in Visions of Heat, but humma humma, do we get to know this gorgeous emotionally cold man in Caressed By Ice.

I was caressed!

He can caress all my womanly parts all he wants!

Brenna has been through some uber dark times and Judd doesn't feel emotions. It is all part of his Arrow make up. He lives The Silence.

But, of course Nalini will find a way for these two to be together against all odds. I think Brenna and Judd are my fave coupling in this series to date. They are the whole package.

Dorian and Hawke are my beauties I am patiently awaiting their HEAs. Nalini makes it easy for us to assume who Hawke will wind up with. I won’t check ahead in the book blurbs to see if I am correct. She is gonna be a handful, but I am digging where Nalini appears to be going.

This series is shaping up for me to be amazing. I had heard it gets better with each book and I can certainly see this.

The Ghost character is a fabulous addition to the sub characters. The only thing stopping me from landing five stars like a great Marlin is this series always tidies each book drama quickly and easily, but we do get a nice twist.

I was thinking the bad egg was somebody else and I was wrong and I like being wrong.

Mine To Possess is up next.

Huzzahhh!!

BOOK REVIEW - WHITE CAT by HOLLY BLACK - CURSE WORKERS # 1 - YA PARANORMAL ROMANCE - MARGARET K. MCELDERRY BOOKS - SIMON & SCHUSTER

By : Holly Black
Published By: Margaret K. McElderry Books, Simon & Schuster
Released: Available Now
Details: Paperback, 310 Pages

RATING: 4.25 CASSEL STARS!

Cassel comes from a shady, magical family of con artists and grifters. He doesn't fit in at home or at school, so he's used to feeling like an outsider. He's also used to feeling guilty; he killed his best friend, Lila, years ago.

But when Cassel begins to have strange dreams about a white cat, and people around him are losing their memories, he starts to wonder what really happened to Lila. In his search for answers, he discovers a wicked plot for power that seems certain to succeed. But Cassel has other ideas and a plan to con the con men.

BOOK REVIEW:

I have had White Cat and Red Glove sitting on my bookshelf for ages. I think I even had to dust a little before reading.

I am a spontaneous reader. I will flip all over the place as I feel it helps to keep my reading pleasure fresh. I’m not judging a same genre book because of the previous one I read.

White Cat is a refreshingly original YA read.

I loved it.

It is a slow-to-get-to-the-point read and that is okay. Holly brings us into Cassel’s story a bit ahead of what we will eventually understand.

If that makes sense?

In other words, keep reading and let your mind play catch up. I was a little disoriented at first, but it is all for a reason.

I feel like we have only just touched the tip of the iceberg with this series.

I really enjoyed all the sub characters and I loved the twist. Sure you can pick a few things out along the way, but then I got my surprise and I like being surprised.

Reading from Cassel’s pov is wonderful and Lila has sass. You can tell this plot took a lot of planning. If you really pay attention to the writing you can see the work gone into it.

I have only read The Coldest Girl In Coldtown by Holly Black prior to White Cat. I am a bit behind on the Holly Black train, but I have been riding the Cassandra Clare train from the start. Both authors are best buddies. Holly is majorly known for the Spiderwick Chronicles.

I’m looking forward to jumping into Red Glove shortly, because I’m intrigued, especially after I read the excerpt at the end of White Cat.

The Best Books of 2015: Historical Fiction

Today marks the second "Best of" list of 2015. Having revealed my Best Autobiography / Memoir / Nonfiction books yesterday, today will be the Best Historical Fiction. None of the novels on this list were a disappointment, in fact I had a very difficult time deciding which spot each would take. A God in Ruins was just as intricate and spellbinding as its companion novel, Life After Life. The Secret Life of Violet Grant was the perfect vacation read -- full of adventure and drama. I was completely invested in Anita Diamant's beautifully feminist book, The Red Tent, and was pleased to find that her most recent novel, The Boston Girl, was just as thrilling. The novel you will find at #1 is the perfect combination of all of these books -- its story is both elegantly written and undoubtedly important.

Top Historical Fiction of 2015:

8. Beloved, by Toni Morrison

7. The Poisonwood Bible, by Barbara Kingsolver

6. The Secret Life of Violet Grant, by Beatriz Williams

5. A God in Ruins, by Kate Atkinson

4. The Boston Girl, by Anita Diamant

3. The Red Tent, by Anita Diamant

2. Brooklyn, by Colm Toibin

1. The Nightingale, by Kristen Hannah (Scored 29/30)

The Nightingale is a story of two very different sisters living in France during World War II. Vianne is a mother who must quarter a German soldier in her home when the Nazis arrive in her village. Isabelle is a rebellious eighteen-year-old girl who joins the Resistance, delivering secret messages by bicycle until she realizes she was meant for something greater. The Nightingale is an inspiring, historical read that captures the voices and stories of women during the most trying of times.
